Start! – A beginner’s Guide to God

Ever wondered what life is for? Ever wondered what Christians believe?

Start! is a down-to-earth course to help today’s men and women discover the Christian faith in a small-group setting.

Start! will help you:

  • think about your “life direction”
  • discover the person and identity of Jesus
  • ask questions about the Christian faith
  • decide how you should respond.

Start! consists of 6 ninety minute sessions featuring DVD presentations entitled:

  • Life is for living
  • Oh my God!
  • Jesus who?
  • What’s gone wrong?
  • Dying to save us
  • Into the arms of love.

Start! usually takes place each autumn.

Alpha

Who, Why, What, How? – The Alpha Course

What is the point of life? Why do people suffer? What happens when we die? Is forgiveness possible?

The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. It is relaxed, low key, friendly and fun. There is a meal together at the beginning of each session which gives you an opportunity to get to know each other. Listen, learn, discuss and discover. And ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile. And it is supported by all the main Christian denominations.

What’s involved?

The Alpha course consists of a series of talks looking at topics such as “Who is Jesus?” and “Why and how do I pray?”. After each talk we divide into small groups for a time of discussion.

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for everyone, especially:

  • Those wanting to investigate Christianity
  • New Christians
  • Newcomers to church
  • Those who want to brush up on the basics

What will it cost?

There is no charge for the Alpha course.

We had a very successful first outing of the Alpha course at the beginning of the year. The response was very positive with participants commenting on experiencing better relationships with God and family and learning more about the Christian faith. They also enjoyed the friendship, food and wine! We are looking to run an Alpha course starting in January 2010.
